The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is a globally renowned center for fusion research. With approximately 1,100 dedicated staff members in Garching near Munich and Greifswald, we are committed to exploring the fundamentals of fusion power plants. These power plants produce energy without climate-damaging emissions, are safe, sustainable, and nearly inexhaustible—much like the sun. At our Garching location, we operate the globally recognized and established large-scale experiment ASDEX Upgrade, a tokamak fusion facility. In Greifswald, we conduct research on the large-scale experiment Wendelstein 7-X, the world's largest and most powerful stellarator-type fusion facility.

We are looking for young scientists who have recently completed (or will complete in the near future) their doctoral degrees (PhD).
Expertise is a plus, but a strong plasma physics background and passion for nuclear fusion are enough to get started.

You will be part of one of the largest scientific and technical projects in Germany with interdisciplinary project teams. During your Postdoc phase you can expect exciting tasks and projects in an international scientific environment.
You will acquire new skills and competencies through your work, but also through further education events and will be supported in your active career planning by the Career Center for Postdocs.
Our postdoctoral research positions are temporary contracts, usually for 2 years with possible prolongation to 4 years. The positions are remunerated up to salary grade 13 according to the German public sector tariff (TVöD Bund).
